Spring chickens

These chickens were hatched today at our home in Perigord. The proud father is our cockerel, Sarko, and the mum who sat dutifully on the eggs for three weeks was Angela Merkel, although not all the eggs came from her. In the other chicken coop we are awaiting a clutch of new-born pheasants.

I always look forward to a New "Bruno" book. Imagine my disappointment when I just received "The Children Return" to find out it is the same book as "Children of War". Not sure why it was necessary to change the title, but again I am very disappointed. Sincerely,
John A. Larsen

I'm very sorry about that - the US publishers elected to use a different title. You should be able to return 'The Children Return' to the book seller - I've been given my money back when the same has happened to me with other authors.

...Amazon currently advertising two new Bruno books for summer 2015 release - The Patriarch and The Dying Season - both with very similar synopses. The same book with different titles again?

I'm afraid so - The Patriarch is the US edition, and The Dying Season the UK title. I'm shocked to see that Amazon recommend buying the two together to save money - that's atrocious. I will ask my publishers if they can do anything to ensure the booksellers identify when titles have been changed for different markets.

The Patriarch?? Thanks for the heads up! This is the first I've heard of it. Definitely something to look forward to this summer. Maybe Mr Walker would like to give us a few words of preview. Does Bruno's new American love interest make an appearance? Is the emphasis more special ops or more police procedural? Either way, I am a guaranteed audience. I read them as much for the dinner parties, food, wine, girlfriends, horses, dogs, St Denis and surroundings as for the action and adventure.

Half the pleasure I get in writing the books comes from losing myself in the atmosphere - I'm glad you get a similar effect as a reader. But I couldn't possibly spoil any of the forthcoming twists and turns... Rest assured, the dinner parties et al continue unabated!

One year wait on the kindle version of "The Children Return" and one day to read it. I was going to ask if there was a new novel in the pipeline but previous post have answered that question.

I have to wonder why there is a year delay in the USA version after the book is published in London.

That's because the US publishers picked up on the series when there were already several out in the UK - as the series started behind, it lags behind so that Knopf can release them as part of the regular summer schedule. My daughter assures me it makes sense as part of production scheduling...

Excited about the new book in the summer. Me , my Mom and now my husband all enjoy your books hugely. Any news on the English version of the Cookbook? I was first recommended your books several years ago by a great friend who has a significant birthday next month - I was hoping to get him the cookbook.

Nothing yet, I'm afraid - it's still in the hands of the publishers. I wish I had more news for you!

In the last 16 days I've read the first 7 Bruno books, and can't wait for more. I'm an American who has lived in Germany for 28 years now. Where can I get more information about the upcoming Bruno tv series? Best wishes for your continued success! Cyndee

That's a sizeable feast of Bruno - I'm impressed! I'm afraid I don't have a date for the TV show yet, but I do know it's in production, so it shouldn't be too long.
